1969-1970 Mustang
The body on 1969 Mustangs was altogether different and reflected the first major change in the five year old line. The Mach 1 was introduced as a variation of the fastback of previous years. V8 power was installed in 81.5% of all '69 Mustangs. Mustangs were now all-out perforamance machines with the introduction of the Boss 302. Styling was not much different for 1970. The most potent power plant for the 1970 Mustang was the 429. |

Being raised in Detroit during the muscle car era, there were new muscle cars everywhere. I was right smack in the middle of the 'BIG Three' (Ford, GM, & Chrysler). Where ever I looked, there were GTO's, Camero's, Corvettes, GSX's, Hemi Cuda's, (no Vipers back then) and the most popular were the Mustangs. I normally gravitated towards the Corvettes until the Mach I came out in 1969. I was floored with the new fastback design, the stripes, the louvers, and the infamous 428 SCJ with the RAM Air shaker hood package. I like to take the Mach out on a nice day and burn some rubber. |
