If you still have the stock pulley cage, unbolt it via
the 3 8mm bolts. Next remove the supercharger belt. Use
a 1/2 inch wratchet or pry bar. To get the belt off easier,
slide it off of an idler versus a pulley.
|
Disconnect the throttle cable and cruise control cable
from butterfly. Next remove the two bolts from the throttle
cable bracket connected to the supercharger. Pull this
out of the way. |
Unplug the IAC and TPS sensors. These are the two black
sensors that are on the plenum right behind the throttle
body. Disconnect the MAT sensor on the drivers side of the supercharger, which is below the EGR.
|
Disconnect the black air duct from the mass-air meter
and air box. Then remove the four 13mm nuts holding the
plenum and throttle body to the supercharger and carefully
slide it off as a unit. Save the gasket for reuse if it's
in good shape. The plenum and throttle body will also
be shipped to Stiegemeier. |
Unscrew the black bracket on the
driver side that holds several sensors. There are two
bolts on the side of the supercharger and one nut on the
back of the EGR that holds this on. Unplug the sensors
and vacuum lines necessary to pull it clear. Make sure
to note which wires you have disconnected and where they
go. |
Disconnect the EGR tube from the EGR assembly. There will
be a large nut holding the EGR tube to the EGR assembly.
Then remove the EGR from from the supercharger. There
is one bolt and one stud. Take it off carefully and save
the gasket, because you will re-use it. |
Remove the vacuum lines from the back of the supercharger,
there are a total of 3 and one vacuum line that goes
to the drivers side valve cover that needs to be disconnected.
|
Unbolt the two 10mm fuel rail bolts
on each side of the supercharger. The fuel rail and injectors
can be removed now or after the blower is off the motor. |
Remove the ten 10mm intake manifold to cylinder-head bolts.
These are the bottom bolts. The upper ten bolts hold the
lower intake to the supercharger and can be loosened at
this time, but do not remove. |
Remove the two black intercooler
hoses from the front fittings. There is a hose clamp on
each one, and after you slide the clamp back, spin the
hose back and foreth while pulling. A little intercooler
fluid will spill out. |
Now lift the supercharger and intake
manifold up and out of the engine bay. This takes two
people. Make sure to put towels in the 8 intake holes
to prevent tools or grime from falling in.
|
We removed the injectors and rails, but if you are careful it is not necessary.
Remove the MAT sensor and boost bypass valve. We rounded off a bolt on the EGR
so it was removed in this step, but it is easier to remove it when the blower is still on the engine.
Save these items for when the blower is reinstalled.
|
With the supercharger out of the
car, unbolt the four bolts holding the intercooler cap
in place. Pull it off carefully. |
Note the silicone RTV sealant on the intercooler cap.
Clean this up and reapply a bead of silicone when it comes
time to reinstall the ported blower.
|
Now remove the 10 intake bolts
and separate the supercharger from the intake manifold.
Save the supercharger to manifold
gasket, it will be reused as well. If yours looks comprimised
obtain a new one from Ford.
|
Flip the
blower over and remove the intercooler. Carefully unbolt
all 10 bolts that hold it to the bottom of the supercharger.
|
The next time we see this supercharger this outlet area
will look completely different. |
Pack the blower, throttle body and plenum up securely
and ship it off to Stiegemeier Engine Airflow. Then find
another way to get to work for the next couple days. |
